I started a blog! Technically speaking this is a blog too, but I use it as a portfolio website, what with the galleries and all. I digress. The new blog is www.beerscribbles.com and it’s all about getting me to draw more and helping me keep my thoughts straight on all the craft beer I drink. I’m pretty freakin excited about it :)
This is a personal project I made for my portfolio. The original concept design is by Little Druid and, while all of his concept work is amazing, I choose this particular character not only because I found it particularly striking, but also because I felt that its variety of surface treatments (skin, cloth, gold, iron, leather) would be an excellent exercise.
No rest for the wicked though, onward and upward! I already have new projects in the mix that are absolutely going to raise the bar for the quality of my work. I’m focusing much more of full body characters with accessories. I’m also brainstorming some environment projects that should be super fun to work on.
I’ve added a Barrett M82/M107 .50 cal gun to my 3D gallery. It was fun doing hard surface modeling again. Working on this actually got me really excited to make more guns. Because, let’s face it, guns kick ass!
Here’s a new piece I did based on a sketch by Jordu Schell. I really love the personality his drawing conveys, and I did my best to maintain that essence in my sculpt. I don’t think I was entirely successful, but it was great fun to work on, and I learned from the process.
I’ve recently given my website a much needed overhaul. Things look and behave much more nicely now. I’ve been extremely busy working on my folio, and things are really starting to come together, so I should have plenty of updates coming!
